CHASM: Intuition, Risk & Certainty (September 12 2025 to February 1 2026 at LCVA)

Helen Frederick, Madalyn Marcus, and Randi Reiss-McCormack

The alignment of the work of Frederick, Marcus and Reiss-McCormack comes from studio practices where the physical act of creating, and the insistence and unpredictability of chosen materials guide the next step. The transitory nature of time, the beauty of materiality and intuitive presence in the work are common themes among them. Through the handling of materials, where this inner alchemy follows a path, one can experience an understanding of the instinctive workings of the mind

These three artists have developed their practice to seek the unknown. Their works are that of bodily experience, beyond language and trusting the intuitive. The nature of feeling is explored in multi-dimensional sensory pathways that lead from personal visual language to shared human conditions.

Chasm may have different connotations to each artist, but all three have their own individual way of finding their way forward across obstacles to make their work a visceral and physical experience for the viewer, sharing in a communication that is not always linear.

We are honored by the inclusion of prints loaned by the Kluge-Ruhe Museum. When viewing these works, we would hope that the viewer becomes fully present in the intensity of energy and joy that these works provide.
